More water done in Toonboom. This time a waterwake for the front of a boat, a couple of directional splashes, and a wide splash where I tried to play around with different ways of breaking up the foam yet still keep things somewhat simple.

flame on!!

did this one in toonboom as well. i wanted to give it a bit of life b/c a regular candle flame sittting in a room with no air current can get visually boring! anyways, i had some help compositing it to give it more heat. pretty happy with how it turned out.

these splashes were done in toonboom as well. for me, water is one of the hardest effects to animate. you're really animating the reaction to whatever force it is that impacts the surface. essentially you're animating energy which can be tough to wrap your head around when you're focused on making pretty water drawings. i'm happy with how these turned out... but practice definitely makes perfect with this element.

This is an on going project i thought of to try and design FX properties in different ways, for instance water splashes completely made of rock or lightning that has lava properties. I thought it would make for some challenging design (and it was). So here are my attempts at a faucet pouring wood and a tornado made of slime.

update my ASS!!

i know what you're thinking... who grabbed the defibrillator and interrupted the sweet SWEET slow and painful death that WAS this blog. well it was i no doubt, and its been a very long time since posting something here, or really doing anything artistic for myself. let me tell ya...i'm as rusty as ever. so to help myself look better than what i am currently capable of...this is a bit of old and new. the sculpture is from my 1st year animation class, and the drawing is something recent. last night in fact. its not for anything. it was, however, meant to get some creative juices flowing for a very possible project i'm going to try and undertake. no detalis yet...but i'll update as i go. just don't hold your breath. or maybe...hold your breath...i have a freakin defib...etc.

well drawing women is getting slightly easier...pushing posing gets continually more difficult. but i do like the way this turned out, i did get a little lazy with color, but overall i think it was a success. comments and crits most welcome.

this is a design for a little project i'm workin on in my spare time. i had an actual day off today so i finally got the chance to work on it. it's all i'm gonna say about it for now.

this took forever to find time to finish but i think the anatomy turned out better this time around. i was coloring it in blue and realized green looked better. got a little lazy and didn't polish so there's still blue in it... but the general idea is there.
